This week, we sat down with Amy Adler, financial consulting badass and the queen of the pivot. Hear what she has to say about all things resilience, strength, and living up to your potential!
Why did you want a photoshoot?
I needed some current professional photos for my business, and I was excited to participate in Felicia’s 40 Women Over 40 exhibit after she told me about it.
What drew you to Felicia Reed Photography?
Felicia has an infectious glow about her, and after seeing some of her amazing work, it was an easy decision to hire her.
What was the experience like?
I felt like a princess for the day! Getting my makeup professionally done was really fun, and trying several outfits and poses was a blast.
What was your favorite photo?
She put me in a black pantsuit with just a black bra underneath. It made me feel like a strong and sexy badass.
How has the experience with her changed the way you see yourself?
My photo shoot happened to be at a pivotal time in my career, which was totally unexpected. I’d had a plan for several years that COVID derailed just few months before then, and I felt really lost about what to do next. But seeing myself in the pictures she took gave me a different perspective and was yet another reminder that I’m capable of much more than I realized. It actually turned out to be the moment when I knew that I would leave my job at the CPA firm and start my own business doing divorce financial consulting.
What advice would you give other women?
Getting divorced can be an incredibly stressful, painful, and scary time for so many reasons. I wish I’d realized when I went through my own divorces that it doesn’t make me weak to ask for help and support. Although we are definitely strong enough to handle it on our own, we don’t have to, and when we reach out for support, the outcome is usually way better than just surviving the struggle!
