When we talk about money, it can feel like there’s this giant, scary monster hiding behind a door. We’ve been taught that we can’t always have what we want, so when someone offers us a glimpse of the treasure hidden beyond that door—like an offer for a raise or a promotion, or don’t scoff at your prices—we think it’s just too good to be true! So we may deny it, reject it, list reasons to talk ourselves out of it, determine it’ll be too much work (imposter syndrome), and even tell ourselves that we don’t deserve such abundance because “that doesn’t happen in real life.”
People who are happy with their finances have learned how to deal with these beliefs to create positive change in their financial lives. So if you’re ready to let go of those limiting beliefs holding you back from abundance, read on! This post will walk through five ways to shift your thinking about money from scarcity and lack into one of abundance and wealth.
BTW: My Makin’ Money Moves course gives you the tools to “flip the script” on your bank account and grow your income FOREVER. This isn’t your average course—this is next-level training designed to help you make your business work for you instead of the other way around.
The beliefs you have about money can affect your actions and results. Your ideas are often learned. Which means: they can be unlearned.
The easiest way to change them is by changing your mindset. If you’re feeling stuck, ask yourself, “how might this belief hold me back?” This will help you see the situation in a new light, which may lead to more successful outcomes.
Some examples of shared beliefs that can get in the way of money flow:
Beliefs are the foundation of our lives. We use them to interpret the world around us and make decisions, but they can be limiting or empowering.
Suppose you grew up surrounded by lousy money habits (credit savings etc.). Chances are that belief will continue to influence your financial habits as an adult, which means that you’ll have a more challenging time with your money mindset than others.
The good news? You can change this! The first step is identifying what kind of beliefs you have about wealth and prosperity so that we can work together on replacing them with new ones more aligned with success and abundance in all areas of life (including finances).
This can be a challenging task, but it’s worthwhile to take the time to do it, and it will help you make better decisions in the future.
The first step is identifying what you value – these things matter to you. Values differ from needs because they are more about what is important than what is necessary for survival (i.e., food and shelter). For example, honesty, kindness, generosity, integrity, and love may all be a person’s values, whereas being able to breathe air and eat food will be their needs.
When you’re feeling broke, it’s easy to get stuck in a negative mindset.
You may start thinking about all the people who have more than you do. You might even take it personally when someone else has something nice, and you don’t. This will only worsen matters—a negative mindset can lead to resentment, poor health, and an overall sense of worthlessness.
To avoid this trap, choose gratitude instead of comparison when your heart is open to abundance—and be incredibly grateful for what you already have! See each day as an opportunity: if there’s one thing I’m thankful for today? It’s being alive!
It’s possible to attract money. It becomes easier to believe in your ability to attract money if you know that. If you think you can attract money, the universe will respond by showing ways for you.
The first step is learning how to use the law of attraction daily. Once you understand how this law works and begin using it for yourself, attracting large sums of money will become as easy as breathing!
This can be a difficult belief for many people because they are ashamed of their past mistakes or think others may disapprove of accepting money. However, these feelings keep the universe from sending you what you desire.
Keep in mind that there is nothing wrong with receiving money—it’s a natural part of life! However, if we all accepted our right to receive this energy (instead of feeling guilty), we could live happier lives filled with ease and gracefulness instead of struggle and pain.
We must also remember that there is no “good” or “bad” karma in life; instead, everything happens for a reason—even if we don’t understand why something happens at first.
We can choose what we believe and decide how much to listen to those beliefs.
Once I acknowledged that money is good and realized how much better off I would be if I changed my view on it, things started to change quickly.
I found new ways of earning money, saved more than ever before—and became happier in the process! So if you feel like there isn’t enough abundance in your life right now, try shifting your perspective.
