Did you know?
– 75-95% of women in prison have a history of childhood physical or sexual abuse.
– Out of of the 230,000+ women who are incarcerated in the US, 75% of them are mothers.
– The lifetime risk for being incarcerated in 36 per 1,000 for black women vs. 5 per 1,000 for white women.
I personally know what going to jail is like. And having a record. I was a teenager at the time. I understand the value of having a
second a chance and what that can get you. I am a living, breathing, testimonial of what a true support system can result in. And
it’s really important to me to support the advocacy of incarcerated or previously incarcerated females in their journeys to living
out their true purpose. Truth Be Told is an Austin based non-profit organization, that aims to provide transformational,
trauma-responsive programs for women who are or have been incarcerated to promote healing and empowerment, and break the
cycle of incarceration for themselves, their families and their communities.
Our hearts are broken for the trauma that leads to and keeps people in the cycle of self destruction.
Truth Be Told breaks these cycles and changes lives. 86.2% of Truth Be Told graduates do not return after 3 years of going home.
Now, we’re asking for your help. Here’s what you can do:
Please join us for Truth Be Told’s Virtual Story Gathering on Dec. 8th to hear these women’s stories and be a respectful witness to
our trauma healing movement program.
Proceeds will go directly towards Truth Be Told’s expansion in 2022, allowing us to reach more women behind bars – providing
more trauma healing programs, which aids in repairing relationships, starting with themselves.
