It’s never easy to be in a situation where you’re forced to learn how to love yourself and your body. I’ve been through some things in my life that have left me with scars. I’m grateful for those scars because they remind me of the strength it took for me to get through it all—and how much stronger we can be when we see others struggling with similar issues or fears about their bodies. So if you’re someone who feels ashamed for having scars or “flaws,” here’s why it’s so important that we celebrate them instead:
What better way to celebrate your scars than in the boldest way possible: Boudoir photography!
Boudoir photography is one of the best ways to celebrate your body…scars and all.
It’s a great way to show that you are beautiful, sexy, and confident with or without clothes on.
Boudoir photography can be a great opportunity for healing. It allows women who have been through trauma to feel empowered again and reclaim their bodies in a safe space with someone they trust. Boudoir sessions can help people overcome body image issues and self-esteem issues, while celebrating their beauty—no matter what size or shape they may be and no matter what kind of scare they may have.
There are many things we can learn from our scars—how our bodies heal, how we respond when faced with challenges, and how much control over the lives we actually have—and they can teach us valuable lessons about ourselves and our strength as individuals. But even if you don’t see yourself as strong or resilient or brave enough right now (even though you really are), just try thinking about all of the things in life you’ve been grateful for lately and start from there!
Many of our 40 Over 40 beautifies come in trying to hide their scars from:
- Postpartum
- Breast Cancer
- Augmentation
- Accidents
- Surgery
- You name it!
By the end of the shoot, we’re celebrating what those scars really mean: life and overcoming trauma.
