Spoiler Alert!! What you do with your money, is up to you. And YOU are worth spending some of it on
yourself. Many of us carry around heavy baggage with limiting beliefs about making money and
spending it. Whether it was passed down to us from our parents, or something we saw growing up that shifted
our mindsets about money; as adults, we often associate an unhealthy amount of work to gain it and guilt
about spending money it, especially on ourselves. Of course it’s critical to meet your financial obligations and
practice good spending habits, but here’s why this way of thinking is ALL wrong.
Your needs matter!
If we have families, we often forget about ourselves. Its common to view our own needs and desires as
secondary and or unnecessary but that’s just not the case.
We need clothes too.
We need things for our homes too.
We need things for work, for play, for mental health, etc. too.
You are your biggest investment and YOU are worth it!
Buying something simple like a set of weights, or a new pair of running shoes, or some high quality
supplements for your overall health, or even a bigger investment like a self paced workout program, or self
help seminar, is investment in or happiness and betterment. There is NOTHING wrong with that.
Retail Therapy is legit.
Don’t go overboard though, you know this. Stay within a budget, but go ahead and buy that new sweater the
feels cozy, soft and warm. Or buy those new swag boots you’ve been eyeing, that will make you feel like a boss
to rock them. New things feel good. They provide a “leveling up” type emotion that only elevates our moods
and mindsets.
Rewarding yourself is important.
While we can be our biggest critics, we can also be our biggest cheerleaders.
Setting a goal, and achieving it deserves acknowledgment and accolade. How is this any different from
someone competing in some sort of contest for a cash prize?
Congrats! You did it! You won! You reached your goal, now go buy yourself that sexy dress you saw last
month or that fancy watch with all the apps on it. You’ve earned it!
Investing in yourself most importantly, is self care in it’s finest. So stop beating yourself up about it, be
mindful about how you spend your money and for gods sake do some work on reversing any negative belief
systems you may carry about money. You were created with infinite possibility and you were meant for
abundance. Be it. Live it. <3
