Pregnancy is a beautiful, magical time. It’s also a very busy one. Between doctor’s appointments, shopping for baby stuff, and trying on maternity clothes, you probably don’t have time to think about what you’re going to wear in your maternity photoshoot.
But this is important!
If you want them to look good (and we know you do), then you need to put some thought into it—and that doesn’t mean putting on any old thing.
In fact, choosing the right outfit can be the difference between a pro-looking pregnancy shoot and something that looks like it was done by your cousin’s friend who has never taken a photo before in her life (don’t worry: that wasn’t me). Below are five outfits for maternity shoots that will help ensure your photos turn out great no matter where or when they’re taken:
Wear a gown for your maternity photoshoot because you’re a queen, obviously
Choose a dress or gown that is easy to move in and comfortable. If your outfit is too short or tight, you may feel self-conscious about how much of your body is revealed. Be sure your clothing isn’t too heavy for the weather; if it’s cold outside, you’ll want something warm enough to keep you cozy but not so bulky that it looks bulky on camera.
Finally, make sure that whatever you wear complements your body shape without being too tight or loose at any point. Don’t forget to bring along some accessories!
Fluffy dresses are one of our favorites!
Fluffy dresses are also great for maternity photoshoots. They are comfortable and cute, which makes them perfect for your shoot!
Jeans and a bra for a laid-back maternity photoshoot
Jeans and a bra, or a cute top that accentuates your bump are great options for a maternity photoshoot. You can wear jeans that are tight, loose, or somewhere in between. The same goes for tops: they can be loose or tight, long or short, casual or fancy. This outfit is very flexible and will work well in most settings!
Lingerie is sexy and makes you feel good
Wear something that fits you well. A cute and simple bra and panty or a sexy, slinky lace set are both really great options! A good fit can make all the difference in how you look, so choose a style that flatters your body and makes you feel confident. Don’t try to squeeze into something too tight if it doesn’t flatter you.
Go nude for your maternity photoshoot!
There’s nothing more beautiful than nude maternity photos! They are tasteful, and classy, and show all your curves while highlighting your body’s changes and the beautiful stretch marks that you’ve earned. Plus, going nude means fewer hot flashes during your shoot. Sounds great, right?! We can accessories with fabric and props for even more beautiful looks!
You’re going to look stunning no matter what
One thing that is important to keep in mind is that you’re going to look stunning no matter what you wear. You might be worried about what your hair looks or how the photos will come out, but don’t worry about it!
Your baby bump is going to look beautiful in any photo, and all of them will be amazing. The whole point of maternity photography is for it to inspire joy, so don’t stress about it. Let’s just focus on having fun together.
I can’t wait to shoot with you! Right now, I’m looking for 40 women to join me for the 40 Over 40. Are you ready?!
