Oh, so you want to create a personal brand? Say no more!
Whether you’re running a service based business, are starting a new creative project, or just want to be more visible on social media, cultivating a personal brand is more important in 2021 than ever before. Over the last 6 years, I’ve cultivated my personal brand and built it into a 6 figure business. Here are some tips on how you can do the same.
1.) Choose your content pillars.
First things first — what are you going to talk about? For me, my main thing is obviously photography — but I also talk about self-love, women over 40, my marriage, feeling confident in your own skin, and building a 6-figure business. A lot of people think that they have to stick to talking about only the thing they offer, but that’s not the case! The beauty of a personal brand is that it can grow into something more personable and 3D. (And you’ll find that at the end of the day, a lot of people really just want to work with *you*! So give them somethin’ to love!)
2.) Create a personal website.
Now that you have your content pillars, you need a website! While many believe that social media is the most important part of cultivating a personal brand, there’s actually nothing more important than having a flagship home base on the internet. But you might be thinking — Felicia, what on earth am I going to put on this website? Here’s a few ideas: your services, your offerings, your creative projects, a blog, about you, contact info, social media, resources… the list is endless.
3.) Create a social media presence — and take it seriously!
None of this post and ghost, okay? It’s 2021, so having a social media presence is a no-brainer. But are you actually showing up? Doing the hard work of being visible? Connecting with your audience? Cultivating the strategies to grow? Social media is a hard, sometimes vulnerable game. But if you consistently show up to be of service and value to your followers, your hard work will pay off.
Cultivating a personal brand is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. So no matter where you’re starting from — the beginning, or somewhere in the middle — it will all be worth it in the end!
