As I observed my friends working with Felicia over the past few years, their photos were beautiful and seemed to empower them. Despite being raised by a beautiful woman and having beautiful sisters, I’ve never fully embraced my own beauty. While aware of my attractiveness, I’ve prioritized being seen for my intellectual side, avoiding efforts that would draw attention solely for my looks. This sentiment has been ingrained in me for as long as I can remember. Yet, my ultimate beauty secret lies in embracing my natural self, including my natural hair color.

 

The most influential person in my life has undoubtedly been my father. Born in 1933, he was an enigma—expressing a desire for my mom to be a homemaker while simultaneously encouraging me to be a fiercely independent woman.

 

 

Reflecting on my accomplishments at this age, I tend to be understated. I currently serve as the President of the Austin Board of Realtors, excelling as a top-producing real estate agent. Additionally, I fulfill the role of caretaker for my elderly parents, managing their affairs. Raising two wonderful boys into good-hearted teenagers adds another layer to my achievements.

If I could travel anywhere, it would be Florence, Italy. It holds a special place in my heart. I lived there in the 1990s at 21, and revisiting it would be a nostalgic journey.

Wisdom to share with my younger self? Stay on your own path, undeterred by others’ ideas of what you can achieve.

 

Overcoming challenges has taught me that happiness and joy reside within oneself and are choices we make. Using my struggles and triumphs to help others understand this has become a guiding principle in my life.
