When planning your couple’s photoshoot, it’s essential to consider what you’ll wear.
Your clothing can make or break your photos, and it’s often where people get stuck when trying to plan their shoot. So if you need help figuring out where to start, don’t worry! This guide will help you choose the perfect outfit for your next photoshoot with your partner.
Get inspiration from your wardrobe
When trying to figure out what to wear for your couple’s photoshoot, it’s helpful to look through your existing wardrobe and see if there’s anything that may inspire your look.
If you still need to get clothes in mind and want some inspiration from what other couples are wearing, try looking at some pictures on my Pinterest board! There are tons of great outfits out there! You could make yourself an inspiration board by saving all the photos that catch your eye.
Find inspiration from your surroundings
Look at your surroundings. What do you see? Is there anything that catches your eye?
Have a look around your house and notice what you already own. For example, do you have a collection of shoes, scarves, or hats that would work well in the shoot?
Look at what you’ve done in the past. What is it about those photos that made them special to you? Was it the location or outfit choice?
Look at what other people have done with their partners – perhaps a friend has shared some great pictures online, which could give some inspiration for your shoot too!
Look for balance and contrast in your couple’s photoshoot
It’s essential to balance your outfit with the rest of your partner’s.
It can be tempting to wear something that doesn’t match them, but unless you want one-half of your glamour shots to look out-of-place, it’s best to be sure that you’re both wearing similar colors and styles.
Another significant element in fashion photography is contrast: how two elements are different from each other. Contrast helps a photo have some depth by making it stand out from other pictures on Instagram or Facebook—whenever you see an image of a model wearing black against a white wall, what do you think? “That looks cool” or “That looks kind of boring”? Unfortunately, when it comes down to it, some kinds of outfits don’t lend themselves well to creating good contrast between themselves and their surroundings. So if something about yours makes this happen (e.g., lots of bright colors), go ahead! But if not…try mixing things up just once in a while!
Don’t match too much, but don’t clash too much either
When choosing clothing for your couple’s photoshoot, it’s important to remember that you want to feel good and confident in what you wear.
That may mean wearing something comfortable and familiar or something that makes you feel like a million bucks. You want to be yourself in front of the camera while still looking like an A+ version.
You want your outfits to complement each other, not blend together.
- Try a solid-colored shirt with an open collar for him—or one with contrasting sleeves for her—and then pair them with jeans or shorts in different shades.
- If he’s going all-out in dress shoes, but she’s more comfortable in flats? No problem! Just make sure that when he goes low-key, she can still stand out with her stilettos or wedges.
To have fun during your couple’s photoshoot, you need to feel comfortable
For a successful and memorable couple’s photoshoot, it’s essential to be yourself. Being comfortable means picking the right outfits and only wearing what makes you feel good about yourself!
