It’s the day before your boudoir shoot, and you’re feeling anxious. Your mind is racing with everything you need to do before the session.
What if there’s traffic?
What if your hair doesn’t look right?
It can be hard to find time for yourself when you have so much going on, but it’s important to remember that relaxing is just as important as preparing physically for your photo shoot.
Here are five ways to relax before your boudoir shoot:
1. Get a massage before your boudoir shoot
If you’re feeling stressed and tense, getting a massage might be just what you need to prepare for your boudoir shoot. Massage therapy can help you relax, improve circulation, reduce stress and anxiety—and even improve sleep!
If you’re feeling unsure about how to pose effectively in front of the camera, working with a practitioner trained in massage therapy can help make posing more comfortable. A good massage therapist will be able to tell if there are any areas of your body that are tight or sore from being in odd positions for extended periods of time. They may also notice areas where you tend to hold tension (like between your shoulder blades) without realizing it while posing. This can lead them to suggest different poses that put less stress on those areas while still looking flattering overall.
A good massage therapist will also teach their clients how deep breathing exercises can help relax muscles before having photos taken so they’re not as tense during their session with us as well; this helps us get better results.
Tell your massage therapist what you’re going to be doing and see if they have any tips for relaxing!
2. Practice sensual poses in the mirror
Standing in front of the mirror, practice your poses and expressions. Try to stay relaxed and have fun with it!
Head over to your photographer’s Instagram page or find other inspirational accounts on Pinterest to save different poses that you want to try. Keep in mind that your photography will guide you through posing as well!
3. Shave, exfoliate, and moisturize
If you have time, it’s a good idea to shave and exfoliate a day or two before your shoot. This will help smooth your skin and make it look fresh and glowing. You can use a sugar scrub or an oil-free body wash with exfoliating beads. This is also a great opportunity to just totally pamper yourself!
If you tan, do that on the day of your shoot so it doesn’t look obvious in the photos. Tanning beds are not recommended because they can leave weird orange streaks on your skin—but if that’s what works for you, go for it! Just be careful not to get burned by overexposure to UV rays (tanning too much can cause damage).
4. Bring your favorite music to your boudoir shoot
Music can help you feel more relaxed and confident, which will make you feel more beautiful. Bring some of your favorite tunes to the shoot and we’ll play them on a portable speaker during your session.
5. Eat healthily, stay hydrated and get enough sleep
- Don’t forget to eat a healthy breakfast
- Drink water throughout the day
- Don’t stay up too late the night before and set your alarm to a calming wake-up sound
Relaxation is key to getting the most out of your boudoir shoot
It’s important that you’re relaxed in front of the camera so that you can feel comfortable and confident. When you’re relaxed, we’ll be able to capture beautiful images that show off your natural beauty!
Think about how much fun this will be! You’re about to have an experience unlike any other; one that’s all about celebrating who you are as a woman and feeling beautiful! As soon as I think about how much fun I’m going to have on my shoot day—and how much confidence it gives me—I start smiling (even before I’ve gotten dressed).
Hopefully, some of these tips will help you relax before your boudoir shoot. Remember that the more comfortable and relaxed you are, the more successful it will be!
