If you are the face of your business, you’re gonna need a personal branding photoshoot. And although I may be a little biased as a photographer, I’ve also been in the creative entrepreneur space for 6 years and counting, so I fully believe this to be the case! Contrary to what you may think, your clients aren’t just buying your service, they want to work with you. (Yes, you.)
Whether it’s for your website, instagram, email signature, or other branding materials, a personal branding photoshoot will help your prospective clients connect to you, and then ultimately, your business.
So, what goes into a personal brand photoshoot? Well, a lot. Here’s what I need to know before we start:
1.) First things first: are we a good fit?
You might be thinking you can hire any photographer for a personal branding excursion. Nope! You’ll need to find one whose style matches your brand’s style. If you’d describe your brand as luxurious and classic, then we’re probably a great fit. But if you’d describe it as neon, bubbly, sun-shiny, and bright, then maybe not so much!
2.) How do you plan to use your photos?
Your web designer will thank me for this one! Different platforms have different needs. If you’re simply looking to refresh your instagram presence, that’s one thing, but if you need website photos, that’s completely another. Help me help you by getting clear on what your photos will be used for!
3.) What are your brand colors?
Let’s plan ahead and make sure that your photos actually match your other materials. (Again, your brand + web designer will thank me for this ;)). From clothes to backdrops to props, knowing your colors beforehand will save a ton of time and headache. And if you are starting a new business and you don’t have brand colors just yet, you should know that your photoshoot choices here might dictate your brand colors later. Let’s be strategic together!
4.) How do you want people to feel when they interact with your brand?
A picture’s worth a thousand words. Your photos may be the most important communicator of your brand’s personality. So, what are we trying to capture? Empowerment? Fun? Luxury? Class? Let’s get to the heart of it.
5.) Do you have a marketing team, and if so, what are their needs for your photos?
At the end of the day, this photoshoot is an investment in your biz. I want to make sure you get the most out of it that you possibly can! So, before we start, I need to know the overall vision and goals for our work together.
And there it is. From style, to colors, to usage, there are a lot of elements that go into a branding photoshoot. But don’t fret — we will work through the nitty gritty together. And if you’re like, “this sounds great, Felicia! I need a branding photoshoot now!”, you can do so here.
